Exploring the intersections of art, culture, and storytelling

Welcome! I am a Pakistani-Canadian Visual Artist and PhD Candidate in Social-Cultural Anthropology. My creative and research practices are driven by a deep curiosity about identity, heritage, memories, and culture. I work across photography, film, mixed-media art, illustration, and poetry, blending themes of nostalgia, aesthetics, narrative, diaspora, feminism, and belonging.

WHAT INSPIRES ME

My creative work is deeply personal—rooted in identity, heritage, memory, and belonging. Growing up, I was surrounded by the rich oral storytelling traditions of South Asian culture, yet I often noticed that many of the narratives passed down centred on men's experiences and perspectives. This realization shaped both my artistic and research practices, inspiring me to bring forward the overlooked stories of Pakistani and South Asian women, and other hidden stories and histories alike.

My work seeks to provide a feminist intervention—honouring the marginalized voices of those often left out of historical and cultural narratives. In both my research and artistic practice, I center the lived experiences of BIPOC communities, celebrating heritage while creating space for new and inclusive narratives. Inspired by nostalgia, aesthetics, and the power of storytelling, my work is a bridge between past and present, personal and collective, art and activism. Through my practice, I hope to keep our cultural histories alive while reinterpreting them in ways that speak to contemporary experiences.
